Qantas and Air New Zealand to End Codeshare Partnership
oneworld has launched a feature that simplifies online check-in for itineraries involving connections between multiple airlines.
Passengers can scan their passport, receive boarding passes, and save them to a digital wallet through a single process. The feature applies to flights operated by oneworld member airlines included in the itinerary, regardless of which airline operates the first flight. Powered by oneworld’s proprietary technology, it connects the systems of its member airlines through a shared digital platform.
For example, passengers traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Dallas/Fort Worth via Tokyo on Malaysia Airlines and American Airlines can check in once and scan their passport using the American Airlines app. Separate boarding passes for each operating airline will be issued and can be saved to a digital wallet. At the airport, passengers can proceed directly to baggage drop and security screening without stopping at a check-in counter.
In the future, the service is also expected to support check-in for codeshare itineraries and boarding passes that are updated in real time.
