Singapore Court Approves Jetstar Asia Debt Restructuring Plan
Japan Airlines (JAL) and Japan Transocean Air (JTA) will revise the applicable international fuel surcharge amounts for tickets issued from November.
The two-month average Singapore kerosene market price from August through September was US$159.19 per barrel, while the average exchange rate was ¥161.63 to the US dollar, resulting in a yen-denominated amount of ¥25,089. Although Zone T (the ¥25,000 benchmark) would normally apply under the applicable conditions table, the airlines will lower the applicable condition by one level and apply Zone S (the ¥24,000 benchmark), taking into account government subsidies under emergency measures to mitigate sharp fluctuations in response to the situation in the Middle East.
For Japan-origin itineraries ticketed from November 1 through December 31, the surcharge per one-way journey will be ¥7,100 for routes to South Korea and the Russian Far East, as well as the Okinawa/Naha–Taipei and Kaohsiung routes; ¥16,000 for East Asia routes other than South Korea and Mongolia; ¥21,500 for routes to Guam, Palau, the Philippines, Vietnam, Mongolia, and Russia (Irkutsk); ¥33,200 for routes to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, and Russia (Novosibirsk); ¥38,500 for routes to Hawaii, Indonesia, India, and Sri Lanka; and ¥62,000 for routes to North America excluding Hawaii, Europe, the Middle East, and Oceania.
