JAL Offers Flexible Ticket Changes and Refunds Ahead of Typhoon No. 30
All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Airlines (JAL) began adjusting their flight schedules on the Tokyo/Haneda–Okayama route today, October 25.
Each airline operates five round trips, or 10 flights, per day on the route. By ensuring time differences for two round trips operated by each airline—four round trips and eight flights in total—with similar departure times, the airlines aim to increase options and improve convenience. The affected flights depart Tokyo/Haneda in the early morning and evening, and Okayama in the morning and at night.
By adjusting flights that had departure times only 10 minutes apart from Tokyo/Haneda and five minutes apart from Okayama in the previous winter schedule, the airlines will ensure intervals of up to one hour and five minutes. The first flight from Tokyo/Haneda will depart 20 minutes earlier, while the last flight from Okayama will depart 15 minutes later.
The Expert Panel on the Future of Domestic Aviation had recommended maintaining competition among airlines in principle while implementing measures to preserve Japan’s domestic aviation network and ensure passenger convenience. With a view to building a sustainable domestic route network, the airlines said they will continue discussions with relevant parties while considering a range of options, including adjusting flight frequencies and coordinating routes through codeshares with other airlines.
