LOT Polish Airlines and Thai Airways Sign Codeshare MOU
All Nippon Airways (ANA), Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA), Lufthansa Cargo and Swiss International Air Lines have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen their cooperation in the air cargo market between Japan and Europe.
ANA and Lufthansa Cargo launched a cargo joint venture covering the Japan-Europe market in 2014, offering services including one-stop solutions between Japan and Europe. Their partnership was temporarily suspended in September 2023 following the restructuring of ANA Holdings’ cargo business. The companies will now begin considering an expanded new partnership, including a joint venture, with the addition of NCA and Swiss International Air Lines.
Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, commented, “Japan is an important market, and through our long-standing relationship with ANA, we have provided reliable services. We would like to explore how we can leverage the strengths of each company’s brand, network and expertise to create further value.”
Alain Chisari, Head of Cargo at Swiss International Air Lines, said, “Europe and Japan both have strong demand for the transport of cargo requiring advanced handling techniques and time-critical shipments. By combining our European network and specialist cargo know-how with those of the other companies, we will provide a broader range of transportation solutions.” (Image: ANA)
