Transport Safety Board Publishes Progress Report on Collision Accident at Haneda Airport
Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to Resume Providing Information on Aircraft Take-off Sequence
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will resume providing information on the sequence of aircraft take-offs from August 8.
The provision of such information was suspended at airports nationwide after a collision incident involving a Japan Airlines (JAL) aircraft and a Japan Coast Guard aircraft at Haneda Airport on January 2.
The Haneda Airport Aircraft Collision Incident Review Committee’s interim report suggested that providing information on take-off sequence is beneficial for understanding the status of other aircraft, among other reasons. It recommended that the provision of information, with proper attention to considerations for air traffic controllers and pilots, should be resumed after thorough dissemination of these guidelines.
