Hokkaido Air System (HAC) and Yamato Transport have started a pilot transport of specialty and famous products from various parts of Hokkaido to areas outside the region on July 31.
This is part of the “Air Cargo Transport Network Strengthening Project Contracted Service” agreement signed on July 12 between Yamato Transport and HAC with the Hokkaido Airport Bay Bureau Aviation Division. It combines HAC’s aircraft cargo space and Yamato Transport’s national transport network, consisting of trucks and cargo-only aircraft, to transport local specialties and famous products from various locations in Hokkaido, including remote islands, to outside Hokkaido.
As the first phase, they have initiated a pilot transport from Okushiri Island. Yamato Transport will handle the transport from producers on Okushiri Island to Okushiri Airport, truck transport from Okadama Airport to New Chitose Airport, air transport from New Chitose Airport to Haneda Airport, and from Haneda Airport to domestic and international destinations. HAC will be responsible for air transport using the cargo space of aircraft from Okushiri Airport to Hakodate Airport, and then to Okadama Airport.
