JAL Starts Operation of A350-1000 on Haneda-Los Angeles Route, Replacing 777-300ER
According to Swiss International Airlines, local time on August 17th, flight LX161 (Boeing 777-300ER, registration number: HB-JNI) from Tokyo/Narita to Zurich, landed at Astana Airport and subsequently skidded off the runway into the grass beside it.
The flight, carrying 319 passengers, departed Tokyo/Narita at 11:31 AM. Due to a passenger’s illness, the plane arrived in Astana at 4:01 PM the same day. After landing, because the taxiway was closed, the aircraft had to make a turn on the runway. However, the aircraft’s nose wheel got stuck in the grass. The aircraft was then towed by a tow truck. An investigation for any damages is underway.
Given the limited options for rebooking in Astana, Austrian Airlines dispatched a Boeing 777 aircraft. The passengers were first transported to Vienna and then onto Zurich or their final destinations.
