Kintetsu Railway will start operating the new 8A series from October 7 on lines including the Nara, Kyoto, Kashihara, and Tenri lines.
The exterior features Kintetsu’s signature two-tone color scheme, designed to be familiar and welcoming. Inside, each car will have two spaces equipped for strollers and large luggage named “Yasashiba.” These areas include stoppers to secure casters and are designed as spaces where anyone can sit and share “kindness.”
By introducing new inverters and the company’s first “individual door opening and closing switches,” power consumption is reduced by about 45% compared to conventional vehicles. The adoption of “L/C Seats,” which can switch between longitudinal and transverse seating according to the congestion level, and the installation of four security cameras per car mark it as a “vehicle considerate of safety and the environment.”
