‘Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda’ Opens on September 6, Marking the Brand’s Debut in Japan
Hilton and Orix Hotel Management announced the opening of ‘Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda’ on September 6.
The hotel is part of the grand ‘Grand Front Osaka’ North Tower, which is located on the north side of the massive 45,000 square meter development area across from JR Osaka Station, known as the “Umekita 2nd Phase District.” The hotel occupies floors 1 and 10 through 25. On the south side of the district, Hilton’s luxury brand ‘Waldorf Astoria Osaka’ will also open.
‘Canopy’ is a premium upper upscale lifestyle brand by Hilton making its first appearance in Japan. It offers a brand concept that leverages unique local characteristics and culture in its design and services. Currently, there are over 40 ‘Canopy’ hotels worldwide, with more than 40 new openings planned across 41 countries and regions.
The hotel offers 308 guest rooms, located from the 13th to the 25th floor. The accommodations include standard rooms of 32 square meters, corner suite rooms of 63 square meters, and suite rooms of 95 and 127 square meters, as well as pet-friendly rooms. There are 53 suite rooms and 19 connecting rooms, catering to a wide range of needs.
The ‘Canopy Panorama Suite Room’ on the top floor, with an area of 127 square meters, overlooks Umeda Park and offers a panoramic view of the Yodo River. It features a living area with a sofa and dining table, a separate workspace, and a kitchenette.
In the guest rooms, the decor includes motifs of ‘Senari Hyoutan,’ the horse mark of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and the Metasequoia trees planted in the adjacent Umekita Park. The colors ‘River Blue,’ representing the water city of Osaka, and ‘Umekita Green,’ representing the greenery of Grand Front Osaka, serve as the themes. They are complemented by modern interpretations of Osaka’s history and culture, such as retro-inspired mini-bars and lucky charms.
The entrance features a design with inverted takoyaki grills on the ceiling, imaginatively used as lighting with hanging pipes representing takoyaki and toothpicks. The walls portray elements of octopus legs, sauce, bonito flakes, and green seaweed.
The all-day dining ‘CC: CARBON COPY’ features a ceiling inspired by the arcades of Kuromon Market and offers a buffet breakfast, a la carte and set menus for lunch and dinner. The bar & lounge ‘!JaJa!Bar’ collaborates with ‘Tenten,’ known for its bite-sized gyoza, offering local Osaka food and original cocktails. The coffee shop ‘Bean there, UMEDA’ on the first floor serves coffee made with original roast beans, sandwiches, and more.
‘!JaJa!Bar’ offers a ‘Golden Hour’ from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm, providing Hilton Honors Gold & Diamond members with complimentary special drinks and canapés made from local ingredients.
Facilities include a 24-hour fitness center, a ‘Hall,’ ‘Meeting Studio,’ and ‘Board Room’ for various events, rental ‘Canopy Bikes,’ and pet-friendly amenities. The hotel is about a 7-minute walk from JR Osaka Station.
An opening ceremony and a media preview were held on September 26. The ceremony featured a ‘Fukusasa Decoration Ceremony’ praying for business prosperity, attended by Hilton’s Andrew Lin, Senior Vice President of Lifestyle in Asia Pacific; Joseph Chalarca, representative for Japan, Korea, and Micronesia; Takashi Nishinai, President of Orix Hotel Management; Yutaka Takahashi, Executive Vice President of Orix Real Estate; Taro Katsuyama, Executive Officer of Nikken Sekkei; and Surjan Singh Vadhera, general manager of Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda.
