Destination DC Opens Japan Office, Its 8th Global Location
Destination DC, the official destination marketing organization for Washington, DC in the United States, held a press conference in Tokyo on October 17 to announce the opening of its Japan office.
The number of Japanese travelers to Washington DC experienced a significant recovery in 2023, growing 300% compared to the previous year and showing a continued upward trend. Recognizing the high demand among Japanese travelers, the Japan office is the eighth international office to be opened globally. Marketing efforts will highlight the unique appeal of Washington, DC under the brand tagline “There’s Only One Washington DC.”
Elliott L. Ferguson II, President, and CEO, stated, “Although Washington DC is often associated with politics, it’s also a city rich in nature, with over 100 free tourist attractions, which is not widely known. There are direct flights from Japan, offering convenient access. We hope many people will discover the charm of Washington DC and visit.”
Details were also provided about popular tourist events, including the National Cherry Blossom Festival and the DC Jazz Festival. The National Cherry Blossom Festival is scheduled from March 20 to April 13, 2025, and the DC Jazz Festival from August 27 to 31, 2025.
