JR East to Begin Renovations at Morioka Station in December, Aiming for Completion by Fiscal 2026
JR East will commence renovation works at Morioka Station in December.
The renovations include improvements to the positions of the Shinkansen and conventional line ticket gates, and the development of passages that will allow passage from the south to the north side of the station around the ticket gates, enhancing the station’s internal circulation. The opening of the passageways is scheduled for the first half of fiscal 2025.
Furthermore, the formerly separated Midori no Madoguchi (ticket offices) and ticket vending machines of the north and south sides will be consolidated on the south side. A new commercial area connected to the Morioka Station Building Fezan will be developed on the north side. Completion is anticipated within fiscal 2026.
