Waldorf Astoria New York to Reopen Next Spring
The Waldorf Astoria New York has started accepting reservations from December 10th.
Led by the renowned architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, with Pierre-Yves Rochon taking charge of the interior design, the hotel is scheduled to open next spring after several years of restoration work. It will feature 375 rooms.
The majority of the rooms are over 570 square feet, equipped with redesigned guest rooms and suites. The space seamlessly combines modern comfort with delicate Art Deco accents,
offering a 30,000 square foot spa, state-of-the-art fitness center, an outdoor terrace, and 43,000 square feet of event space. It also includes the signature restaurant ‘Peacock Alley’, and the iconic lounge & bar ‘Sir Harry’s Bar’.
Dino Michael, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Hilton Luxury Brands, said, “The reopening of the Waldorf Astoria New York is not just a milestone; it signifies a bold new era for our brand. This legendary hotel has defined glamour and sophistication for over a century, but now it will function as the flagship of the reborn Waldorf Astoria. We are delighted to welcome guests back to this famous address where timeless elegance and modern luxury meet. This moment also sets the stage for the eagerly awaited openings of Waldorf Astoria properties around the world, such as Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cisques, Waldorf Astoria Osaka, and Waldorf Astoria London Admiralty Arch, as we continue to redefine luxury globally.”
The Waldorf Astoria New York was sold to Anbang Insurance Group in 2014 for $1.95 billion, the highest price for a hotel at the time. It was closed for renovations in 2017, with the upper floors slated to open as condominiums.
