Kura Sushi to Open at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, Developing Dishes from Around the World
Kura Sushi has announced its participation in the Osaka-Kansai Expo.
With the concept of “The rotating belt brings the world together.”, this establishment will feature the company’s largest ever seating capacity of 338 and the longest conveyor belt at approximately 135 meters. The interior design incorporates a Japanese modern style with white wood used for tables and pillars, tatami seats, and a ceiling adorned with large graphics of the rotating belt and plates. The exterior wall utilizes about 336,000 discarded akagai clamshells in an “artificial-free plaster,” made with seaweed-based adhesive.
The “Hands-Hands PROJECT” will be launched, developing 70 special menu items that represent 70 countries and regions for the Expo venue. Some of the menu items include Boxty (Ireland), Marabu (Israel), Mackerel (Cameroon), Gaeng (Thailand), Adjiteji (Togo), Pescado con Coco (Dominican Republic), Keke (Tonga), Duck Roast with Truffle Sauce (Hungary), Ceviche (Peru), and Carne Asada (Honduras).
As part of a special Expo support plan, national outlets will start pre-selling special menu items from February 7, 2025. Of the 70 menu items developed, each store will feature one unique dish.
