Turkish Airlines Cancels Some Flights from February 19 to 22 Due to Bad Weather in Istanbul
The South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has ordered a comprehensive inspection of the maintenance history of key systems, including engines, for all domestic airlines operating the same model as the Jeju Airplane that made a belly landing on December 30th.
The inspections will be carried out on 101 Boeing 737-800 aircraft from December 30th to January 3rd, 2025. The number of aircraft owned by each company includes: 39 by Jeju Air, 19 by Jin Air, 27 by T’way Air, 10 by Eastar Jet, 2 by Korean Air, and 4 by Air Incheon.
The accident involved a Jeju Airplane flying from Bangkok/Suvarnabhumi to Muan, which made a belly landing at Muan International Airport, resulting in the deaths of 179 crew and passengers, and injuring 2 crew members. The cause is widely believed to be a bird strike before landing.
