Osaka Metro to Install Face Recognition Gates at Namba Station, Expected to be Available to the Public by End of FY2024
West Japan Railway Company (JR West) will begin a pilot program offering WESTER points to J-WEST card members based on the operation status of the Limited Express “Thunderbird” service.
The service is provided in collaboration with Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance. In cases where trains are rerouted due to external factors such as train obstructions, reckless level crossing, or track intrusions, as well as disaster-related factors like rain, strong winds, or earthquakes, leading to a delay of 15 minutes to less than 120 minutes, 500 WESTER points will be awarded.
The period is from February 10 to March 9, covering the section between Osaka and Tsuruga Station. Eligible products include e-Ticketless Limited Express tickets and e-Hokuriku Transfer Ticketless (exclusive for J-WEST card members), applicable only when using the service ticketless. If the limited express ticket price is less than 500 yen, the amount will be the maximum limit.
