Japanese Embassy in Thailand Issues Terror Alert After Uyghur Deportation
The Japanese Embassy in Thailand has issued a terror threat alert following the Thai government’s forced repatriation of detained Uyghurs to China.
In Bangkok, after deporting Uyghurs to China in 2015, a bomb exploded near the Erawan Shrine at the Ratchaprasong intersection in Pathum Wan District on August 17 of the same year, resulting in 20 deaths and injuring 125 people, including Japanese nationals.
The embassy urges Japanese residents and travelers to stay informed of the latest developments and exercise caution in locations where large crowds gather to avoid being caught up in unforeseen incidents.
