JAL’s First Airbus A350-1000 Departs from Toulouse, Expected to Arrive at Haneda in the Morning of the 15th
JR East has decided to suspend direct train operations to the Yamagata and Akita Shinkansen from the Tohoku Shinkansen until March 14 due to an incident involving car separation. When traveling by Shinkansen between Tokyo and the Yamagata/Akita areas, transfers are required at Fukushima or Morioka stations, but tickets cannot be purchased through ticket vending machines or the online reservation system “Ekinet,” leading to widespread confusion.
Normally, direct operations are conducted between Tokyo and the Yamagata/Akita regions by the Yamagata and Akita Shinkansen. However, since it will take time to determine the cause of the car separation incident on the Tohoku Shinkansen, except for a limited number of Yamagata Shinkansen trains, the Yamagata Shinkansen is turning back between Fukushima and Shinjo, and the Akita Shinkansen is turning back between Morioka and Akita.
Passengers traveling between Tokyo and the Yamagata/Akita areas must transfer at Fukushima or Morioka stations. Even with transfers, fares are generally calculated as a through fare, but Shinkansen tickets for trips involving transfers cannot be purchased through ticket vending machines or the online reservation system “Ekinet.” JR East is urging customers to purchase at the Midori no Madoguchi or at talking ticket machines at stations.
