JAL to Test Fuel-Efficiency with ‘Sharkskin’ Coating on 787-9 Aircraft for International Flights
The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) has delivered a C909 model aircraft (registration number: RDPL-34229) to Laos Airlines for the first time.
This is the first time a Laotian airline has introduced a Chinese-made jetliner, which was acquired through a lease. The plane features an all-economy class configuration with 90 seats. After a series of maintenance procedures in Laos is completed, the aircraft is scheduled to be deployed on routes.
The C909 model was initially developed as the former ARJ21 model. It has a maximum range of 3,700 kilometers, allowing it to operate on domestic Laotian routes and international routes to neighboring countries. To date, 162 units have been delivered, servicing 645 routes across 158 cities. The aircraft is known for its superior high-temperature performance and its ability to take off and land on short runways, making it well-suited for operating conditions in Southeast Asia. The Laos Department of Civil Aviation granted type certification on March 18.
