Expo Commemorative ICOCA Gains Popularity: Limited Quantity, Key to Acquisition Is ‘West Gate’
The Seattle Tourism Bureau held the ‘Seattle-Washington State Sales Mission 2025’ on April 14, with executives from organizations such as the Washington State Tourism Bureau and the Port of Seattle visiting Japan.
This sales mission to Japan is the first since 2019. According to Tammy Blount-Canavan, CEO of the Seattle Tourism Bureau, 2.2 million visitors are expected to visit Seattle in 2024, with 35,000 of them from Japan.
While there are many day-trip visitors from Canada, the Japanese market is a significant one, ranking in the top 10 for both visitor numbers and spending.
Hawaiian Airlines, which will start direct flights from Tokyo/Narita to Seattle on May 13, participated in this mission and explained the scale of Alaska Airlines and its expanding network.
Additionally, the latest information was presented on tourism attractions and spots, along with ‘SPOT SAVER,’ an app for reservations at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
On the following day, the visiting executives hosted a ‘Pacific Northwest Wine Pairing Dinner’ for Japanese travel agencies, airlines, and media representatives, where participants enjoyed high-quality wines from the region, the second largest producer in the United States.
