Tokyu Expands Pilot Program for Credit Card Tap and QR Code Train Services
Tokyu Corporation is expanding its demonstration experiment which utilizes credit card tap functionality and QR codes for train services.
Starting December 12, the service will be available at all stations on the Tokyu Toyoko and Meguro Lines, as well as at selected stations on the Tokyu Shin-Yokohama, Oimachi, Ikegami, and Tokyu Tamagawa Lines. By January 2024, the service is scheduled to begin at all Tokyu Line stations. However, it will not be implemented at any of the Setagaya Line stations or the Shin-Yokohama Station on the Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line.
On December 12, sales of new products such as ‘Tokyu Line One-Day Pass’, ‘Tokyu Line Triangle Pass’, and ‘Ikegami & Tokyu Tamagawa Lines One-Day Pass’ will also start on the digital ticket service ‘Q SKIP’ website. After purchase, it will be possible to board using the credit card’s tap feature or a QR code. Post-January 2024, sales of planned ride tickets in collaboration with facilities along the Tokyu Lines are also expected to commence.
The company is considering introducing a post-payment ride service using touch-payment compatible credit cards after spring 2024.
As part of the ‘Q SKIP All Line Area Expansion Celebration Campaign’, from December 12, 2023, to January 14, 2024, first-time purchasers using a Tokyu Card-issued credit card on ‘Q SKIP’ will be eligible for a cashback of up to 50%.
