Changes to Shinjuku Station West Exit Plaza Traffic and Pedestrian Routes from Late September
Lawson will start a trial for “RV Park” car accommodation facilities in its store parking lots from July 14.
Conducted in collaboration with the Japan RV Association and Glory, the trial will run until June 30, 2026, in the parking lots of six stores within Chiba Prefecture. The facilities boast 24-hour accessible toilets and garbage disposal, and highlight the safety of having staff present indoors and the convenience of purchasing food and drinks.
The demand for car accommodations is rising due to diversified travel needs, such as spending time with pets, and soaring accommodation prices. Although the number of camper vans owned domestically will reach 165,000 units by 2024, there is a shortage of places where car accommodations are possible.
The targeted stores are Ichinomiya Torami, Onjuku Shinmachi, Amatsu Kominato, Tomiura Interchange, Minamiboso Iwai Kaigan, and Futtsu Minato. Reservations are accepted through RV-Park.jp. Fees range from 2,500 to 3,000 yen, with payment by credit card only. Check-in starts at 6:00 PM and check-out by 9:00 AM.
Upon reservation confirmation at the store, a usage permit, paper with terms and conditions, and a garbage bag will be provided, along with the loan of an electrical drum. Disposal of one garbage bag of perishable waste is permitted.
