
JR East to Launch AI-Powered Phone Guidance ‘Doko-Tore Dial’ on July 23 and Trial ‘Visible Announcements’
JR East has gradually resumed operations on five lines in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
The Ito Line (between Atami and Ito Station) resumed service around 8 PM, the Tokaido Line (between Tokyo and Atami Station) and Yokosuka Line (between Ofuna and Kurihama Station) around 9 PM, the Joban Line (between Tokai and Takahagi Station) around 10 PM, and the Uchibo Line (between Kimitsu and Awa-Kamogawa Station) and Sotobo Line (between Mobara and Awa-Kamogawa Station) resumed around 11 PM. The Shonan-Shinjuku Line will suspend service until the last train of the day. Although all lines plan to operate from the first train on July 31st, some suspensions are expected on the Uchibo Line and Sotobo Line.
Additionally, the Tohoku Main Line (between Shiroishi and Natori Station, Iwakiri and Kogota Station), Joban Line (between Takahagi and Haranomachi Station, Haranomachi and Sendai Station), Senseki Line, Senseki-Tohoku Line, Ishinomaki Line (between Maeyachi and Onagawa Station), Ban-etsu East Line (between Ononiimachi and Iwaki Station), Kamaishi Line (between Tono and Kamaishi Station), Yamada Line (between Kamiyoichi and Miyako Station), Hachinohe Line, Tsugaru Line (including substitute buses), Ou Main Line (between Shin-Aomori and Aomori Station), Wantaku (free and scheduled rides) will suspend service throughout the day and are expected to operate from the first train on July 31st, though some suspensions may occur. The Kesennuma Line BRT, Ofunato Line BRT, and Ominato Line will suspend service throughout the day and will resume operations as soon as evacuation orders from local governments are lifted.
