
JR East Suspends Train Operations on Several Lines Until Last Train Due to Tsunami Warning
JR East announced that the Yamagata Shinkansen will operate on a regular timetable starting August 1.
Since the E8 series train malfunction on June 17, the Yamagata Shinkansen has been performing turnaround operations between Fukushima and Yamagata/Shinjo stations, except for some direct trains. For more information turnaround operations are being conducted.
From August 1, regular trains will run according to the usual timetable. The number of temporary trains will be reduced from the planned schedule. Furthermore, from August 9 to 17, additional services will be added on the Ou Main Line (between Fukushima and Yonezawa stations), and some trains on the Senzan Line will have increased capacity (from 4 to 6 cars).
