Qatar Airways will suspend its Tokyo/Haneda to Doha route effective April 1, 2024.
The suspension coincides with the launch of the same route by Japan Airlines (JAL) on March 31, 2024. JAL will operate the route with a Boeing 787-9, offering one round-trip flight per day. This will be the first Middle East route operated by a Japanese airline. Qatar Airways flight numbers will be assigned to JAL-operated flights, and customers with reservations will be switched to JAL flights.
Qatar Airways had initiated the route in June 2014. After a suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic, the airline had just resumed one round trip per day in June this year. The winter schedule had been adjusted to make it more convenient for passengers. With this change, Qatar Airways’ Japanese routes will be reduced to the Tokyo/Narita to Doha route and the Osaka/Kansai to Doha route launching in March 2024.
