Korean Air has placed an order for 103 Boeing aircraft.
The order includes 20 units of the 777-9, 25 units of the 787-10, 50 units of the 737-10, and 8 units of the 777-8F. This is the largest order from an Asian airline for Boeing, as well as Korean Air’s largest order to date. It marks the first order for the Boeing 777-8F model. Deliveries are expected through 2030.
Korean Air currently owns 108 Boeing aircraft, with prior orders totaling 72 aircraft. In March, they placed additional orders for 20 units each of the 777-9 and 787-10 models.
Furthermore, they will purchase 11 spare engines from GE Aerospace and 8 from CFM International, along with a 20-year maintenance program agreement with GE Aerospace for 28 engines.
The total investment is approximately 50 billion USD, with 36.2 billion USD designated for aircraft, 690 million USD for spare engines, and 13 billion USD for the engine maintenance program.
The agreement was signed at the “U.S.-Korea Business Roundtable” held in Washington, attended by U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and South Korean Trade, Industry, and Energy Minister Kim Jung-gwan. During his visit to the United States, President Lee Jae-myung met with President Trump at the White House on the same day.
