Iconia Hospitality reopened the Kamenoi Hotel Awajishima (Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan) on August 1 following renovations.
The overall design incorporates motifs that envision the property as a cruise ship. In addition to newly created Premium Rooms with private open-air natural hot spring baths and dedicated terraces, the guestrooms feature gradient wallpaper inspired by the surface of the Seto Inland Sea at sunset, two-tone walls reminiscent of ship cabins, carpets with a whirlpool motif expressing the sea’s swells, and brass accents evoking marine equipment. Ocean-view categories such as Japanese-Western Rooms, Deluxe Rooms, and Superior Twin Rooms are also available.
Within the hotel, new open-air natural hot spring baths overlooking the Harima-nada Sea have been added. Using Ogurayama Onsen water, the men’s and women’s areas are designed with distinct atmospheres. The restaurant—distinguished by indirect lighting inspired by Awaji onions—has been completely renovated; dinner features a creative kaiseki menu by the head chef, while the breakfast buffet offers dishes prepared with island-sourced ingredients. In the lobby lounge, guests can enjoy panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea, and the walls are decorated with Awaji roof tiles.
