Hotel Associa Shin-Yokohama to Rebrand as Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Yokohama Station in August 2026
Kyuyokan Hotels Okinawa will close Hotel Sun Palace Kyuyokan on December 31.
The nine-story building has 66 guest rooms. It is located in central Naha City’s Kumoji district in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, just a 3-minute walk from Kokusai-dori (International Street). The property also offered “Train Rooms” from which guests could watch the Okinawa Urban Monorail (Yui Rail).
Due to the aging of the building, as well as challenges in securing staff and intensifying competition, the company states it has become difficult to maintain stable service. Regular operations will end on October 31.
The company was founded in 1948 and, in the same year, opened the Hotel Kyuyokan as a single-story wooden lodging. After relocating to the current site in 1956, it built a new wing in 1973 and expanded in 1985. In conjunction with its 60th anniversary in 2008, the hotel was renamed Hotel Sun Palace Kyuyokan. Palace Inn Moon Beach, which it operates in Onna Village, Okinawa Prefecture, will continue operations.
