JR East to run retro-wrapped Yamanote Line trains in Tokyo for 100th anniversary
Tokyo Monorail in Japan will introduce the line nickname “Tokyo Panorama Line” on November 1.
The aim is to widely convey the experience of viewing the city, sea, and sky from the train windows. The nickname will be introduced on the Tokyo Monorail Haneda Airport Line, and will be rolled out in stages to station signage, route maps, fare tables, onboard displays and announcements, pamphlets, and the website. Customer-facing staff uniforms will also be revamped, with the switchover scheduled for November 2026.
The company is promoting the “TOKYO ART & CULTURE” initiative, which turns station and train spaces into venues for showcasing Japanese art and culture. It has been operating, since August, a train wrapped with works from the “HERALBONY Art Prize 2025” co-created with HERALBONY, and plans to run a train featuring designs by Hogalee in December.
Details of a commemorative campaign for the nickname’s introduction will be announced on the website and social media once finalized.
