JR East to launch code payments on Mobile Suica in autumn 2026
Taiwan Railways (TRA) will suspend all services on the Pingxi Line until January 30, 2026, as restoration work will take considerable time following the heavy rain disaster in late October.
According to Taiwan Railways, a slope collapse was confirmed between Sandiaoling and Dahua stations, and a roadbed washout between Lingjiao and Wanggu stations, making short-term restoration impossible. During the suspension, a replacement bus will operate five round trips per day between Ruifang and Jingtong. Departures from Ruifang: 7:10 a.m., 9:10 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. Departures from Jingtong: 8:10 a.m., 10:10 a.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. In both directions, buses will stop at Shifen, Wanggu, Lingjiao, and Pingxi en route.
The Pingxi Line runs in northern Taiwan’s New Taipei City from Sandiaoling Station to Jingtong Station. It is widely used by Japanese tourists as access to Shifen, which is famous for its sky lanterns.
