Taiwan Railways suspends Pingxi Line until January 30, 2026; bus replacement between Ruifang–Jingtong
Odakyu Electric Railway will begin exhibiting its Romancecar VSE (Series 50000) at the Romancecar Museum in late March 2026.
The exhibit will consist of one observation car from set 50001, while the other cars are scheduled to be scrapped. It will be displayed on the first floor of the Romancecar Gallery at the Romancecar Museum, between the HiSE (Series 10,000) and RSE (Series 20,000) trainsets. A visitor route will be created in which guests board via an emergency door near the observation seats using stairs installed alongside the car body, then walk through the conductor’s cabin at the inter-car connection to exit. This will allow visitors to closely view the VSE’s distinctive high, dome-shaped ceiling and the seats angled toward the windows.
The company is considering holding date-specific hands-on events under the concept of “Become a VSE crew member.” These will offer experiences such as using a powered ladder to climb up to the driver’s cab, and operating door opening/closing and making onboard announcements in the conductor’s cabin. Children’s replica crew uniforms will also be available for loan.
The VSE debuted in 2005 and operated in regular service until March 11, 2022, and in extra/seasonal service until December 10, 2023. The combined total operating distance of the two trainsets exceeded 6 million kilometers, and they carried approximately 20 million passengers in total.
Due to the start of the exhibition, the museum will be closed from late February to late March 2026 for vehicle installation work and interior facility preparations.
