Courtyard by Marriott Kyoto Station to Open in Autumn 2026
Odakyu Electric Railway and Hotel Odakyu Southern Tower will begin renovation work on the Odakyu Hotel Century Southern Tower in the fall of 2026.
Odakyu Hotel Century Southern Tower opened in 1998 in Tokyo as an accommodation-focused hotel primarily targeting business travelers, combining functional, no-frills services with high-quality guest rooms. In response to increasingly diverse needs resulting from the growing number of international visitors to Japan and leisure guests, the property will undergo a full renovation.
The guest rooms will feature a simple, urban, and sophisticated design. To secure ample space that is essential for international visitors to Japan who often travel with large amounts of luggage, freestanding furniture will be kept to a minimum, while special attention will be paid to the placement of sofas so that guests can fully enjoy the hotel’s renowned views. The bathrooms will also be revamped, with toilets and washbasins separated to improve convenience when used by multiple guests. The heat-shielding and thermal-insulation performance of the windows will be enhanced, and air purifiers will be integrated into the ceilings. Four new accessible rooms will be added, bringing the total number of guest rooms to 377.
In the front desk and lobby area, the back-of-house space for storing luggage such as suitcases will be expanded to ease congestion and enable quicker procedures such as check-in. The seating area in the adjacent lounge will be enlarged to increase the number of seats. While the restaurant will retain its existing panoramic views and open kitchen, the layout of the seating will be completely redesigned.
Accommodation operations will be temporarily suspended at the end of September 2026, and operations at the restaurant, lounge, and banquet halls will be suspended at the end of March 2027. The restaurant and lounge are scheduled for a soft reopening in the fall of 2027, with a grand reopening of the entire hotel targeted for spring 2028. Design work will be handled by the joint design team of Taisei Corporation and Nomura Co., Ltd., with construction carried out by Taisei Corporation.
