Delta Air Lines to Introduce Up to 60 Boeing 787 Aircraft
Immersive Fort Tokyo will cease operations as of February 28, 2026.
The park is an immersive theme park operated by Katana Immersive, a subsidiary of the Japanese marketing company Katana. It opened on March 1, 2024, utilizing the former VenusFort site in the Odaiba district of Tokyo, Japan.
According to Katana, the initial business plan assumed that most of the offerings would consist of “light experiences” targeting large groups of guests and requiring a large facility area. In reality, however, demand was found to be heavily skewed toward “deep experiences” for smaller, limited numbers of participants. As a result, in its second year of operation the park shifted its business format to focus mainly on deep experiences. At the same time, the company determined that, under the optimal business model, the scale of the facility was excessively large, and decided to end operations earlier than originally planned.
Takumi Morioka, Representative Director and CEO, apologized, saying, “As we ventured into uncharted territory, we were able to create many highly enthusiastic experiences and gain valuable insights. At the same time, the fact that there has been a substantial gap from our initial plan, including in financial aspects, is something I take very seriously and humbly as a manager,” while also expressing his gratitude to all parties involved.
