Hawaii Tourism Japan Extends “Still Gotta Be Hawaii! Welcome Campaign” Until March 31
East Japan Railway Company (JR East) opened “JAPAN RAIL CAFE Kuala Lumpur” on January 8.
JR East has rebranded “J’s Gate Dining” in Kuala Lumpur as “Japan Rail Dining.” The facility has been reorganized into a dining floor that brings together Japanese food brands, and includes a time-limited “trial pop-up zone” where brands, including those from commercial facilities inside JR stations in Japan, can test overseas expansion. A total of 18 outlets will be set up.
Within “Japan Rail Dining,” JR East has established “JAPAN RAIL CAFE Kuala Lumpur,” which will be operated as a community café for Japan fans, sharing information on travel to Japan and Japanese culture. The café will serve onigiri supervised by Honnorinya and fruit parfaits supervised by Kajitsuen Rieberu (Kajitsuen LiBel), and will carry out regional promotion and in-store events based on monthly themes in collaboration with local governments and companies in Japan. For logistics, it will also make use of services such as “JAL de Hakobyun,” which combines Japan’s Shinkansen bullet trains and air transport.
The location is on the 5th floor of the “Lot 10” commercial complex in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. Opening hours for “JAPAN RAIL CAFE Kuala Lumpur” are from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
