Philippine Airlines unveils Airbus A350-1000 cabin at Manila Villamor Air Base
Five airlines of South Korea’s Hanjin Group will prohibit the use of mobile batteries on board their aircraft starting January 26.
The measure will apply to five carriers: Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jin Air, Air Busan, and Air Seoul.
When bringing mobile batteries into the cabin, passengers must take measures to prevent short circuits, such as applying insulating tape to the terminals or storing each device individually in a plastic bag or pouch. Storage in overhead bins is prohibited; batteries must be kept in the seatback pocket or under the seat.
In addition, insulating tape for short‑circuit prevention will be made available at check-in counters, boarding gates, and on board. The airlines will also carry dedicated storage bags on board for isolating mobile batteries, and attach heat‑sensitive stickers to overhead bins to detect abnormally high temperatures at an early stage. They are also conducting special training based on scenarios involving mobile battery fires.
