JR Central is set to expand the usage area for its TOICA transportation IC card in 2025.
The expansion will include the Tokaido Main Line at Arao and Mino-Akasaka stations and the Iida Line from Mikawa-Ichinomiya to Hon-Nagashino stations in the spring of 2025, and the Minobu Line from Shiojiri to Kofu stations in the autumn of that year. A total of 29 new stations will be introduced.
Passengers who are not traveling within a regular-season ticket area will need to purchase a ticket beforehand as one cannot take rides that cross from within the TOICA usage area to outside of it. The section of the Minobu Line between Nishi-Fujinomiya and Shiojiri stations will not be included in the TOICA area.
