Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Issues Warning Following US–Israel Attacks on Iran
Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) will operate a relief charter flight for Japanese nationals from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to Tokyo/Narita as early as March 8.
In light of the fact that Japanese nationals have been stranded due to difficulties in securing means of departure amid rising tensions in the Middle East, the Government of Japan has decided to operate charter flights from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia and Muscat in Oman. Although the planned departure time is 2:00 a.m. on the same day, it may change depending on the situation. The cost will be borne by the Japanese government. In addition, a charter flight from Muscat is also expected to depart at midnight (12:00 a.m.) on the same day.
The government notes that it may be compelled to give priority to people who are elderly, ill or injured, pregnant, traveling with children, unaccompanied minors, or short-term travelers who do not have a residence or other base in the area.
For the flight departing from Muscat, guidance is being provided to residents of Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia, while for the flight departing from Riyadh, guidance is being provided to residents of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. For all of these countries, a Level 3 travel advisory (“Avoid All Travel”) has been issued by the Government of Japan.
