
Second Japanese Government Charter Flight Arrives at Narita from Riyadh Amid Middle East Tensions
Amid worsening tensions in the Middle East, a government-arranged charter flight has arrived at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Operated as Emirates flight EK2612 with a Boeing 777-300ER (aircraft registration: A6-EPY), it departed Dubai at 11:00 p.m. local time on March 10 and arrived at Haneda Airport at 12:55 p.m. the following day, March 11. According to Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 276 Japanese nationals and others wishing to depart the UAE were on board. Three members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Emergency Response Team (ERT) were also involved in carrying out this evacuation support.
In addition to this flight, an Ethiopian Airlines charter flight from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, carrying Japanese nationals and others wishing to evacuate from Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, is currently en route. On March 12, a charter flight operated by All Nippon Airways (ANA) is scheduled from Muscat, via Mumbai, to Tokyo/Haneda.
