Lufthansa Group Pilots to Strike on March 12–13
Japanese airline StarFlyer and travel agency JTB will begin selling an experiential overnight program called “STARFLYER BASE KITAKYUSHU ~A Night in the Hangar of Wings and Dreams~” from March 12. The program takes place at Kitakyushu Airport in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.
Participants will pitch tents inside StarFlyer’s aircraft hangar located within Kitakyushu Airport and spend the night together with an actual aircraft. Outside the hangar, a sauna trailer will be set up, offering a genuine wood-fired sauna and reclining chairs, allowing guests to enjoy a relaxation “totonoi” experience while gazing at the runway and airplanes.
Late at night, the hangar lights will be dimmed so that participants can enjoy photographing the illuminated aircraft. The program also includes a hangar tour led by StarFlyer maintenance engineers, a talk session with employees, and a bingo game where guests can win prizes such as the right to ride in a towing tractor. On the following morning, participants can experience seeing off departing aircraft. Check-in starts at 4:00 p.m., and check-out is at 8:00 a.m. the next day.
The one-night, two-day program will be offered on three dates: April 25, May 30, and June 20. Each session is limited to 12 groups (12 tents). For each tent, up to 2 people may apply if all are adults, or up to 3 people if at least one is an elementary school student.
The price is 330,000 yen per person when using one tent for a single guest, and 192,500 yen per person when two people share a tent. When applying with two adults and one elementary school student, the one elementary school student is free of charge. When applying with one adult and one elementary school student, the elementary school student is charged the same amount as an adult. When applying with one adult and two elementary school students, one elementary school student pays the adult rate and the other is free. Participation by minors only is not permitted.
Reservations will be accepted on a dedicated website from March 12 on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications must be submitted no later than 21 days before each session date.
