Singapore Changi Airport Named World’s Best Airport 2026 by Skytrax
London City Airport has announced a proposal to change its landing approach procedure and is inviting public comments.
The current landing approach angle is 5.5 degrees, and the airport plans to make it shallower at 4.49 degrees for certain next-generation aircraft. This would enable the operation of larger aircraft than before, such as the Airbus A320neo.
This initiative is aimed at achieving the annual passenger target of 9 million. By allowing larger, more fuel-efficient next-generation aircraft to use the airport, it will be possible to accommodate passenger growth while limiting the pace of increase in the number of flights. Over the next 12 years, around 76,000 flights could be reduced, which the airport says would lower noise exposure for approximately 110,000 local residents compared to the current situation.
