Ryohin Keikaku will open MUJI BASE KYOTO kiyomizu, a local experience-type accommodation facility in Kyoto, Japan, on May 20.
The property will offer 18 guest rooms in 4 types: double rooms, twin rooms, twin rooms with bathtubs, and family rooms. Interiors will feature mainly MUJI furniture and decor, along with works by Kyoto-based artists and creators from the Kyoto area. An outing kit will also be provided, which includes a map introducing nine types of local experiences such as kintsugi, tea and coffee, and visiting a public bath in the morning, as well as a fill-it-yourself MUJI water bottle and an original reusable bag.
Throughout the building, traditional handicrafts will be displayed and water stations for personal bottles will be installed. At Ogawa Coffee Kiyomizu, in addition to the regular breakfast menu, a breakfast menu exclusively for staying guests will be offered. In the front desk lounge, a “tea hospitality” service will be provided, where staff brew and serve one of three types of MUJI tea selected by the guest on the spot. A “Morning Kiyomizu Walk” guided tour introducing the area around Kiyomizu-dera Temple will be held exclusively for staying guests for a fee.
