GALA Yuzawa Ski Resort will end its slope operations for this season on April 17.
Operations were originally scheduled to continue through May 6, but with the arrival of the spring season, snowmelt has progressed rapidly, making it difficult to maintain good slope conditions. As a result, the resort has decided to move up the closing date for slope operations. Due to the rapid snowmelt, some areas on the slopes now have artificial snow mats or exposed ground, and the resort is urging guests to take extra care when skiing or snowboarding.
Accordingly, the SAJ Ski Badge Test that was scheduled to be held on April 19 has been canceled. The Ski & Snowboard School, GALA KIDS SCHOOL, and foreign-language schools will also end their operations for this season on April 17.
From April 18 to May 6, skiing and snowboarding will not be available, but the resort will shift to tourism-oriented operations focusing on snow play and various activities. The ski center “COWABUNGA” and the rest house “CHEERS” will remain open, except for some facilities.
Gala-Yuzawa Station on the Joetsu Shinkansen will operate as scheduled through May 6.
