The Lufthansa Group airlines will introduce an Economy Basic fare from April 28.
Passengers will be allowed to bring on board one personal item such as a laptop bag or small backpack. Any additional cabin baggage and any checked baggage will require an extra purchase.
The new fare will apply to short-haul and medium-haul routes operated by Lufthansa German Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Discover Airlines, Lufthansa City Airlines, and Air Dolomiti for travel on or after May 19. It will be introduced gradually starting with selected routes.
In addition, for the Light fare, it will become possible to change reservations by paying a fee.
As a result, the Lufthansa Group will offer four types of fares in economy class and three types in business class.
