Wise Payments Japan has started supporting Apple Pay for its Mastercard debit cards as of May 12.
The service is available to both individual and corporate members who hold a Wise Mastercard debit card issued in Japan. By adding the card to Apple Wallet, users can make payments with Apple Pay at merchants in Japan and overseas that accept Mastercard contactless payments, as well as for online payments. With Apple Pay, transactions are secured not only by authentication methods such as Face ID, Touch ID, passkeys, or the device passcode, but also by a unique security code generated for each transaction, allowing users to pay safely.
In addition to the physical card, users can instantly issue up to three digital cards from the Wise app and add them to Apple Wallet. Cards can be frozen and unfrozen at any time within the app, and all transactions can be viewed immediately. Users can also hold more than 40 currencies based on the mid-market exchange rate and use them for payments both within Japan and internationally.
