DoubleTree by Hilton Osaka Castle will offer a “Peach Afternoon Tea” from June 1 to August 31.
The sweets selection includes the “Osaka Castle Mousse Cake Aiming for Unification of Japan,” which expresses a tiled roof using sugar work; “Konpeitō Candy Loved by Nobunaga,” symbolizing the Nanban (Western) culture that arrived in Japan in the 16th century; “Peach and Honey Castella – Encounter with Nanban Sweets –,” an arranged version of castella, the iconic Portuguese-style sponge cake; and “Peach Melba with Lime Aroma – Aboard a Luxurious Boat –,” inspired by a lavish feast on a ship. Savories include “Shrimp and Peach Nanban-style Marinade,” prepared with young ginger and peach in a Nanban-style marinade, and “Peach and Cream Cheese Wrapped in Yuba Tempura,” inspired by fritters introduced from Portugal and arranged as tempura. As options, they also offer the “Azuchi–Momoyama Peach Parfait,” layered with ice cream, compote, and jelly, as well as a welcome mocktail (1,000 yen each) and a glass of champagne (1,800 yen).
The venue is Lounge & Bar SEN (Ship) on the 6th floor. Service is for 120 minutes, available from noon to 6:30 p.m. The price is 6,000 yen, tax and service charge included.
