Etihad Airways and Uzbekistan Airways to Launch Codeshare Agreement
Japan Airlines (JAL) has revealed that flight JL252 from Hiroshima to Tokyo/Haneda on May 23 (operated with a Boeing 767-300ER, registration: JA613J) was delayed after alcohol was detected in a pre-duty test of a cabin crew member who had been scheduled to work the flight.
The cabin crew member was removed from duty, and the time required to secure a replacement caused the delay. The flight, carrying 7 crew members and 186 passengers, departed at 8:22 a.m., 42 minutes behind schedule, and arrived at 9:39 a.m., 39 minutes late.
Subsequent investigation found that this cabin crew member had been drinking the previous day together with another cabin crew member who was also assigned to the same flight, and that both had exceeded the alcohol-related limits stipulated in JAL’s operating regulations. The other cabin crew member had reported being unfit for duty on the day of operation and was therefore removed from the roster.
JAL commented, “We take very seriously the fact that repeated alcohol-related incidents have led to a loss of public trust. We will continue to promptly strengthen our recurrence prevention measures and work together as a company to ensure their thorough implementation.”
