JAL Group Implements Special Ticket Measures Due to Approaching Typhoon No. 6
Each airline in the ANA Group will introduce regulations on the size of “personal items” that can be brought into the cabin.
From July 1, the size of personal items will be limited to within 40 centimeters × 30 centimeters × 20 centimeters. On some aircraft types, such as seats at emergency exits or those in front of bulkheads, items cannot be stored under the seat in front. In such cases, they may be stored in the overhead compartments.
Since April 1, the Scheduled Airlines Association of Japan has set an industry-wide unified guideline that allows passengers to bring a maximum of two items into the cabin: one personal item and one piece of carry-on baggage. Personal items must be small enough to be stored under the seat in front.
Size regulations for personal items are often introduced by airlines that charge fees for carry-on baggage other than personal items. At Lufthansa German Airlines and Air France, personal items are limited to within 40 centimeters × 30 centimeters × 15 centimeters, at Ryanair within 40 centimeters × 30 centimeters × 20 centimeters, and at easyJet within 45 centimeters × 36 centimeters × 20 centimeters.
