JAL Group Implements Special Ticket Measures Due to Approaching Typhoon No. 6
JAL Engineering and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries have established a joint venture company focused on aircraft maintenance and other aftermarket services.
The company is named Aero Breath. JAL Engineering holds a 51% stake, while Mitsubishi Heavy Industries holds 49%. The capital is 79 million yen. Taro Matoba has been appointed as President and Representative Director. The company is based at Nagoya Airfield (Komaki Airport), a prefectural airport in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
Aero Breath will integrate the operational and maintenance expertise of JAL and JAL Engineering with the advanced technological foundation of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to build a new aircraft maintenance platform in Japan. By improving maintenance efficiency and equipment quality, the company aims to minimize aircraft ground time and enhance operational efficiency. Subject to obtaining the necessary certifications and approvals, it plans to launch airframe maintenance services for regional aircraft within the current fiscal year.
In August 2024, the two companies had announced that they would begin joint studies on aircraft aftermarket businesses and related fields. Through this initiative, they aim to respond to the growing demand for aircraft maintenance driven by the recovery in air passenger traffic and to contribute to the development of Japan’s aircraft aftermarket industry.
