JAL retires Shohei Ohtani special livery “DREAM SHO JET” Airbus A350
Hainan Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo following the launch of customs closure operations at the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP).
The aircraft was received in Hamburg, Germany, on May 26 and arrived at Haikou Meilan International Airport on Hainan Island on May 28. The process from landing to customs clearance was completed in 43 minutes, resulting in time and cost savings, according to the airline. The aircraft is expected to be placed into commercial service immediately.
After the Hainan Free Trade Port commences its special customs operations across the whole of Hainan Island in December 2025, this will be the first passenger aircraft introduced under its duty-free policy. During the lease period, approximately 6 million Chinese yuan (about 8.867 million US dollars) in customs duties will be exempted. Hainan Airlines also plans to introduce three more Airbus A321neo aircraft of the same model within the year.
