Emirates has expressed its intention to launch services to Berlin and Stuttgart in Germany, subject to approval from the German Federal Ministry of Transport.
The airline plans to operate one round-trip flight per day to each city, and expects to invest more than 100 million euros in each of the two German cities. It also estimates that more than 1,000 jobs will be created, including indirect employment.
Berlin is the political center of Germany, the largest economy in Europe, yet more than 85% of its international flights are concentrated within Europe. Emirates points out that the availability of long-haul routes does not match the city’s international stature. Stuttgart, the economic center of the export-driven state of Baden-Württemberg, is also said to lack sufficient long-haul connectivity.
President Tim Clark stated that of the 2.36 million passengers expected to use Emirates’ Germany routes in 2025, 40% will travel between Dubai and Germany, while the remaining 60% will be transfer passengers. He emphasized that Dubai serves three roles: a premium destination, a growth market, and a global transit hub.
