Hyatt to Open Japan’s First Alila Brand in Sengokuhara, Hakone in 2028
Yokohama Grand InterContinental Hotel in Japan is offering two varieties of premium shaved ice from June 1 to August 31.
The lineup consists of “Crown Melon” and the new “Peach” flavor. Both are made by shaving pure ice created over more than 48 hours from natural deep groundwater drawn from far beneath the ground in the Shinshu region. With fewer impurities, the ice allows the natural flavors of each fruit to stand out.
The Crown Melon shaved ice uses pieces of Crown Melon grown in Shizuoka Prefecture, cultivated by allowing only one melon to grow on each tree, along with red-fleshed melon. It is topped with house-made Crown Melon syrup. Inside the ice, you will find house-made vanilla ice cream, melon pieces, and nata de coco, while the top is decorated with edible flowers and chocolate.
The Peach shaved ice is finished with a sauce made by combining fresh cream mixed with condensed milk and diced peach. On top sits a dessert called “Pêche”: a whole peach compote filled with diplomat cream. The ice is flavored with fresh peach syrup and milk syrup, and inside is hidden sour yogurt ice cream. This item is available in limited quantities only during the peak peach season.
The venue is the lounge & bar “Marine Blue” on the 2nd floor. Opening hours are from noon to 9:00 p.m. on Sundays, weekdays (Monday–Thursday), and national holidays, and from noon to 10:00 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and the day before national holidays. Shaved ice is available until last order during opening hours. Prices are 6,000 yen for Crown Melon and 4,000 yen for Peach, both inclusive of tax and service charge. Quantities are limited and sales will end once sold out.
